Nurrida Shafa

Shafa is a 22-year-old undergraduate student double-majoring in Library and Information Science and English Literature, deeply invested in bridging the worlds of structured data and creative writing. She has been writing short stories since the age of eight and developed an early interest in poetry during the third grade of elementary school. Her reading journey began with the Islamic Princess Muslimah series from Dar! Mizan and the KKPK series, before she gradually discovered YA and historical fiction, and eventually timeless classics from around the world.

Academic and professional background

Shafa finds equal purpose in organizing knowledge and crafting narratives, believing that every context and meaning (whether in a database or a novel) deserves structure and soul. Her writing often explores profound moments of human emotion, memory, and identity, blending introspection with lyrical realism.

Beyond her literary pursuits, Shafa is deeply drawn to the world of GLAM institutions; galleries, libraries, archives, and museums where she sees the powerful convergence of cultural preservation and public access. She is particularly interested in how heritage institutions can adopt more inclusive, community-centered approaches to documentation, curation, and storytelling. Her academic training in Library and Information Science has equipped her with foundational knowledge in metadata, information organization, and digital preservation, while her background in English Literature gives her a nuanced understanding of narrative, context, and audience engagement.

She has actively contributed to GLAM-related projects through coursework and internships initiatives, including assisting with archival description, participating in collection digitalization efforts, and helping design small-scale public programs that connect local communities with cultural heritage. These experiences have solidified her commitment to pursuing a professional career in the heritage sector.
